The Great Gatsby Gala fundraiser for 2026.
 
This year's gala will be focusing on the
Woodstock Recreation Center Splash Pad.

 
 
Woodstock Recreation Center Splash Pad Project
The Woodstock Recreation Center is preparing to launch a major facilities upgrade: the replacement of our aging small pool, which is now failing and at the end of its usable life. In its place, we plan to build a new, fully‑inclusive Splash Pad designed for children, families, community members and visitors of all ages and abilities. This modern water play space will offer safe, accessible fun, expand our summer programming options, and provide a welcoming environment for both residents and visitors.
 
The Splash Pad will become a centerpiece of our outdoor recreation area, offering interactive water features and a vibrant gathering space that supports healthy play and community connection. It will benefit local families, day camp participants, visitors to the area, early learners, grandparents, and anyone looking for a safe and joyful way to cool off in the summer months.
 
We anticipate beginning fundraising in late fall, with the Rotary Gala serving as the official kick‑off event. Preliminary planning and vendor consultations are already underway, and early estimates place the project at approximately $1 million. Once funding is secured, construction would begin as soon as feasible, with the goal of opening the Splash Pad for a future summer season.
 
 
The “Rec.” has served as the center of many recreational and social activities in the Woodstock area since 1946. 
 
The Woodstock Recreation Center (WRC) is a uniquely independent, community driven nonprofit serving the greater Woodstock region. We are the only nonprofit recreation center in New England that is not a municipal department, and unlike other recreation departments that are fully town funded, WRC receives roughly a 25% contribution from the Town of Woodstock. The remaining 75% of our operating budget relies on community support, program revenue, grants, and philanthropy, making our mission deeply rooted in local engagement, stewardship, and partnership.
WRC provides year round recreational, educational, and wellness opportunities for individuals and families of all ages. Our facilities and programs serve as a central hub for youth development, community connection, and accessible recreation.
